Scribblings | "Chasing Hymnal"

Chasing Hymnal, born Four Winds Howl, is a young tabaxi of the Singing Horizon clan. For the past six years, he has searched for his clan's ancestral treasure‒an enchanted tome with endless pages called the Hymnal of the Singing Horizon‒‒after he unwittingly led its captor, the failed and jealous playwright Beck de Corbin, straight to it on the very night he had accepted the hospitality of the Singing Horizon clan. After stealing it, de Corbin plagiarized the Hymnal's contents, and relaunched his career to startling acclaim. Guilt-ridden, Howl rechristened himself after the object of his quest, and secretly left the caravan accompanied by the clan familiar, a pseudodragon named Pengolodh, who partly shares the blame for the Hymnal's theft.

This one was certainly a challenge. It's been nearly a year in the making (I started drawing this in the October of 2019), and I had to learn to draw almost everything you see before you. Detailed below is my progress:

The eyes especially were a challenge. Getting the way the light reflects off of pupil-less, black sclera eyes is remarkably difficult, and never again shall I underestimate such artwork. You might also notice some details which changed from the final line-art to the colored version, but these are small alterations for the most part. Overall, I am very proud of the final result, and I look forward to the day I get to play Hymnal in a full campaign.
